Where do I register my car now that Broomfield is a county?

The Motor Vehicle is now located at One DesCombes Drive on the west end of the building (the old Police Department).   Vehicle registration and titling services are available to Broomfield residents at this location.  You will not be able to register or title your vehicles at the previous county locations.

Where do I go to get my driver's license?

Driver's licenses will still be issued from the state offices.  Their locations will remain the same and may be found in the blue government pages of your phone book under State, Motor Vehicle.  Broomfield has a new Driver's License Office located at 5139 W. 120th Ave, #G, telephone #(720) 887-8396.  At this locations, they will handle renewals, replacements, all written tests, traffic records, and reinstatements, but no driver tests.

I just bought a new car.  What do I need to do next?
If you purchased the car from a dealer or if you financed the car, most of the paperwork will be sent directly to the Motor Vehicle Department by the dealer or finance company.  When you received notification that the paperwork is ready, you need to bring proof of insurance to our office and pay any sales tax and license fees that may be due.

Do I need to get an emissions test?

Depending on the age of your vehicle and the last date of testing, you may need an emissions test.  Check your renewal notice, it should indicate if you need the test, or you can contact our office.

I've seen other kinds of license plates on cars.  Can I get different plates?

There are several types of license plates available for an additional annual fee.  Some of the more popular plates are Honorary Discharge, Pioneer, and Columbine.  Many of these plates have required qualifiers and are available in limited quantities.  If you are interested and want more information, stop by or call our office.
